QSM Sequence Question Type

The QSM Sequence comes included with the Advanced Question Types Addon. The sequence question challenges students to arrange a given set of answers in the correct order by dragging and dropping them into place. Going beyond simple right/wrong selection to test a deeper understanding of order, process, and logic.

A quiz taker is presented with a shuffled list of items and must rearrange them into the correct sequence before submitting their answer.

To create a quiz using the Sequence question type, first select Sequence as the question type from the question editor.

Next, add the answer items in the right chronological order in the answer fields, just as you would with any regular question.

The correct order is determined by the order in which you enter the answers. When the quiz goes live, these items are automatically shuffled and presented to the user in a randomized order.

To ensure users don’t skip the question, mark it as “Required” to prevent the quiz from progressing until the user has arranged and submitted their sequence.

For example, in a biology quiz, you could create a Sequence question asking students to arrange the stages of cell division—prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase – in the correct order.

Students would drag and drop each stage into place before moving to the next question. Once the user submits their arranged sequence, the response is recorded and stored against their quiz attempt for the educator to review.
